Dan MacInnis: I have been painting for almost 30 years and most of my work stems from a love of Plein Air painting. Many of my studio works derive from the Plein Air sketches I have created. The studio works are most often produced in an Alla Prima fashion, basically painted in one sitting, wet on wet paint. I retired from my job as a geologist a few years ago and spend a lot of my free time painting outdoors or in the studio on not so fine days. I am mostly self-taught but have attended a number of painting workshops over the years. I draw a lot of inspiration from the "Group of Seven" and the Impressionist painters of the past.
